A Beginner’s Guide to Windows 11

Windows 10 is a great operating system, but it’s not perfect. It lacks some features that Windows 8.1 has, and it doesn’t support some older devices. So if you’re using an older PC and want to upgrade to Windows 11 (or if your device doesn’t work with the latest version), we’ve got you covered! This guide will help you get up-to-date on all things Windows 11: what’s new in this release, how to use new features, and more.

New features in Windows 11

Windows 11 is a free upgrade for users who own Windows 10. The new operating system includes many new features and improvements, including:

  • A new Start menu that groups apps by category instead of alphabetically
  • The ability to pin apps and folders to the taskbar

What remains the same

If you’re a Windows fan, then you probably already know the basics of how to use your computer. You can open and close windows with the mouse or trackpad, and you have all sorts of options for doing so—from full-screen mode to window tiling.

If not, here’s what remains the same in this new version:

  • The Start menu is still there; it looks just like before and has been improved (more on that later).
  • The taskbar at bottom right is still there too—but it has been redesigned! There are now tiles representing each application on your machine; clicking one will launch that program from its own window within Windows Explorer. You can pin programs to this bar if they’re handy shortcuts you use often enough that they deserve more screen space than icons would normally get…and maybe even some extra functionality like being able to jump straight into them without having first opened up File Explorer? Or maybe just because they’re fun ones like Netflix or Spotify? Who knows? But if these two things sound appealing then take note: both features are available today!

How to upgrade from Windows 10

One of the most common questions we get is how to upgrade from Windows 10, which can be confusing because there are two different types of upgrades: one that’s free and one that requires a payment.

If you want to upgrade your current version of Windows 10 (from version 1511 or earlier), then all you need to do is download an ISO image file and burn it onto a blank DVD disc or flash drive using any program like ImgBurn or Alcohol 120%. Then boot up your computer from this DVD/flash drive by inserting it into its optical drive. Once booted up, follow these steps:

  • Click on Start > Settings > Update & Security > Recovery
  • Click on Get started with resetting my PC settings

How to upgrade from Windows 7 and 8.1

Windows 7 and 8.1 users can upgrade to Windows 11 for free, as long as they have a valid product key. To do so, you’ll need:

  • An optical disc (DVD or USB flash drive)
  • A flash drive (USB or external)
  • A disc

Windows 11 offers new features aimed at making life easier for current and future PC users

Windows 11 is a free upgrade for current Windows users, and it’s available in two versions: Home and Pro. The Home version of Windows 11 comes with most of the features that you’d expect from a modern computer operating system—including file management tools, an enhanced browser (Edge), and support for touchscreens.

The Pro version adds more advanced features like Cortana voice control and 3D Printing support. You can also choose to download the latest version of Office 365 if you want to use applications from Microsoft’s Office suite on your device.

Windows 10 is a great operating system, but Microsoft is constantly updating it to make the experience even better. Now that the latest version of Windows has been released, we can wait for its successor – Windows 11. It looks like Microsoft is going to bring some major changes to the next iteration of its flagship operating system by making it easier than ever for users to access their files from anywhere on any device.
